Jan Oystein Aksnes' parents May Britt Aksnes urged her to use music for development of her own, not to earn money or to pursue to pursue an interest. She began writing songs of her own. She cites renowned songwriters Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan as influences as well as an appreciation for the style of Bjork. When her mother told her that the songs she composed might not gain fame for her however, but to encourage individuals to recognize the importance of their work and influence to our world at large, she began singing them in public. She began playing the piano as her primary instrument, at six, and she started writing music when she turned nine. This was not known to her family until she turned fourteen. Aurora was not a dream of her childhood. Aurora says she loves creating songs. According to her, she believes that music can help any person feel better.
